Tafer Smith is an American artist from New York City that travels extensively with a vast collection of maps from the ancient to the newest digital images. He integrates unique attributes and aspects of maps, shapes and colors that bridges abstract art with the precision of cartography.

His work is multi-media and collage based. His themes are often centered around geometric shapes common in the natural world. The works also consider the dwindling knowledge society seems to posses around geography in the digital age.
